Transporting hope for the disabled
OUR MISSION
ENABLING THE DISABLED
To support disabled people in Africa, with a special focus on Burundi. Disabilities effect a wide demographic in this area. Most feel rejected by society, friends and even family.
Spread our message of hope to the disabled and promote Canadian awareness about the impact of disability on handicap people in Africa.
OUR VISION
SUPPORTING
To support the disabled people in Africa so that they can live with dignity and become valued members of the community. Many feel abandoned and neglected as they face their disability alone. Our model is based on empowering the many disabled so that they can reach their full potential in society.
WHERE WE WORK
We are supporting handicapped people in Burundi and the D.R. Congo. Burundi is bordered by Rwanda to the north, Tanzania to the east and south, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo to the west. The two countries have been devastated by war for many years. Both countries are among the poorest countries in the world. Especially the disabled people are not on the sociopolitical agenda. Therefore, they live under unacceptable conditions and sometimes treated as social pariahs. We have been fundraising to buy appropriate bikes, and buying sewing machines for the handicapped, to enable them to improve their income.
